Benedictine Baseball opened up its four-game series with Calvary University on Saturday with a sweep behind two complete-game efforts on the hill on Saturday afternoon.
The Ravens got a 7-inning, 13 strikeout complete game from Parrish Beagle in the series opener to earn a 3-0 win. The Ravens woke up offensively in game two, winning 11-1 in five innings as Scott Matzke earned the win, throwing 5 innings while finishing with 6 strikeouts.
Brice Martin finished the opener with a 2 for 3 effort at the plate with a stolen base. Matthew Johnson added a double while Elijah Reeves, Carson Hintz and Johnson each recorded an RBI.
In game two, the Ravens scored their 11 runs off just 6 hits. Martin was the only Ravens with multiple hits, finishing 2 for 4 with 2 runs scored and 4 stolen bases. Oliver Ferris, Michael McCavitt and Johnson finished with 2 RBIs each while Reeves, Martin and Korey Messick added an RBI each.
Calvary is unable to play on Sunday, and with the forecast for Monday, the finish of the series has been pushed back to Tuesday with a Noon first pitch of the second half of the four-game series at Olsen Stadium.
