Benedictine Baseball wrapped up its series with Calvary University on Tuesday with a doubleheader sweep over the Warriors inside Olsen Stadium.
The Ravens earned a 17-0 win in the opener and then followed that with a 7-2 win to close out the series winning all four games.
In the opener, the Ravens opened the game up with a 10-run fifth inning as they scattered 15 hits over 7 innings in support of Nic Mozingo. Mozingo went 4 innings, giving up 1 hit with 6 strikeouts before Ben Bowman, Adam Fairbetter and Nathan Schwab finished off the game with 1 inning each.Â
At the plate, Elijah Reeves set the table in the leadoff spot, going 3 for 4 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBI. Brice Martin added a 2 for 3 game with a run scored while Korey Messick also went 2 for 3 with a run scored and RBI. Reeves was joined by CJ Serrano and Oliver Ferris with 2 RBI the Ravens finished with four stolen bases.
In the series finale, a 3-run home run off the bat of Carson Hintz erased a 2-0 deficit for the Ravens in the bottom of the third that sparked a 6-run rally in the inning for the Ravens.Â
The Ravens used 5 pitchers in the win as Ryan McDougal earned the start and went 3 innings with 4 strikeouts while allowed 2 runs off 3 hits. Nolan Haas was the first out of the bullpen throwing eh fourth inning while finishing with 2 strikeouts to earn the win. Paul Dorr, Ethan Arnold and Anthony Sanders threw 1 inning each to finish off the Warriors.
Hintz was joined by JK Sparks with a strong game at the plate, finishing at 2 for 3 with a triple and run scored. Daniel Ornelas added a 2-RBI single to round out the Ravens day at the plate.
Benedictine remains at home for their next series, taking on Briar Cliff University on Friday and Saturday back at Olsen Stadium. Friday's doubleheader will start at 1 p.m. with Saturday's doubleheader remaining at Noon.
