Men's Basketball picked up a solid home win Wednesday evening.
The Ravens defeated the Baker University Wildcats, 87-70. It is the Ravens first win over the Wildcats since the 2021-22 season.
After leading by 9 at halftime, the Ravens saw their lead get trimmed to 6 points early in the second half.
Jack Vander Woude answered with a 3-pointer,
Deaglan Sullivan scored back-to-back baskets, and
Drew Purdy knocked down a trey to give a definitive answer in the Ravens favor. The Ravens lead wouldn't dip below 13 points the remainder of the game as they picked up a 17-point win.
Vander Woude scored a career-high 26 points to lead the Ravens. Sullivan added 14 points and 4 assists, and Purdy scored 11 points.
Ball movement was key for the Ravens as they had 26 assists on 33 baskets.
Preston Reynolds had a team-high 6 assists and
Harrison Kisling added 4.
The Ravens shot 57.9% from the field and 45.8% from 3-point range.
The Ravens got off to a scorching-hot start in the first half, and none hotter than Vander Woude, who scored 18 points in the opening half. Vander Woude knocked down five 3-pointers and made 3 free throws in the opening half.
The Ravens led by 20 points at one point in the first half, but the Wildcats closed out the final 8 minutes on a 20-9 run to cut the Ravens lead to 49-40 heading into halftime.
The Ravens (10-8, 6-4 Heart) will remain at home for a 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17 contest against Grand View University.
