Men's Soccer lost a tough home match to a top-10 team in the country Saturday night.
The (RV) Ravens lost, 3-1, to the (8) William Penn University Statesmen.
The Statesmen took a 1-0 lead with just over 10 minutes passed in the first half. Penn sent a free kick into the box that was deflected to an open player and the Statesmen didn't miss the opportunity for the game's first goal.
The Ravens found an equalizer late in the first half as
Eliah Froeyland passed to the center and
Juanes Hernandez scored past the Penn keeper to make it 1-1.
However, the Statesmen answered in just 12 seconds as a turnover deep in the Ravens end led to Penn's second goal with 6:26 before halftime.
The Statesmen started the second half quickly as they scored on a throw into the box to push their lead to 3-1.
The Ravens were not able to find a goal the remainder of the half, falling by the 2-goal margin.
The shots on goal were even as both teams finished with 5.
Hernan Burdiles finished with 2 saves for the Ravens.
The Ravens (5-5-1, 2-5 Heart) will try to snap a five-match losing streak at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 4 at Mount Mercy.
