Women's Basketball picked up a 30-point victory at home Wednesday night.
The (RV) Ravens defeated the Central Methodist University Eagles, 78-48. The 30-point win was a culmination of the Ravens winning each quarter before blowing the doors off the game in the final period.
The Ravens took a 9-point lead into halftime despite falling behind early in the second quarter. The Eagles put together a 5-0 run to open the second period, forcing a Ravens timeout, but the home side quickly regained the lead and outscored CMU 16-6 the remainder of the quarter.
Riley Bruggeman played a big role in that stretch, scoring 11 of her 13 first-half points. Bruggeman knocked down several midrange jumpers and capped it off with a 3-pointer as the Ravens led 37-28.
The Ravens pushed their lead to 17 points after a strong third quarter that saw the home side outscore CMU 19-11. Exactly like the second quarter, the Eagles scored the first 5 points only to see the Ravens dominate the rest of the period and take a 56-39 lead into the fourth quarter.
The Ravens closed out the blowout with a 22-9 fourth quarter as the visiting Eagles ran out of steam. Bruggeman finished with 21 points – a career high – while also grabbing 6 rebounds.
Josie Weishaar added 18 points and 9 rebounds, and Lauryn Dubbert scored 13 points and had 6 assists and 5 rebounds.
Next up for the Ravens (15-3, 12-2 Heart) will be a 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 25 home game against No. 14 MidAmerica Nazarene University. The Pioneers are a perfect 16-0 in Heart of America play so far this season.
