(8) Women's Lacrosse closes out weekend with 20-6 win over Clarke

DUBUQUE, Iowa – (8) Women's Lacrosse closed out their weekend trip to Northern Iowa with a 20-6 win over Clarke University on Saturday afternoon.

The Ravens spent the weekend in the region after Mother Nature forced a schedule change that pushed back the Clarke game to Sunday after the Ravens took on St. Ambrose on Saturday in Davenport, Iowa.

Benedictine jumped out to a 7-0 lead before Clarke scored their first goal of the game. The Ravens opened their scoring with goals from Chanter Allen, Courtney Frankfurth, and Kaylen Moore in the first 5 minutes of the game.

By the end of the first quarter, the Ravens extended their lead to 11-1. Clarke scored the first goal of the second quarter before the Ravens added four more goals from Grace Simonson, Moore, Margaux Gelbach, and Frankfurth to make it 15-2 en route to a 15-3 halftime lead.

With a running clock for the final 41 minutes of the game, the second-half scoring was limited for both teams with Benedictine holding a 5-3 advantage.

Frankfurth led the Ravens with 5 goals while Gelbach added 4. Moore finished with 3 goals and 1 assist while Simonson and Allen scored 2 goals each. Kiera Russell, Rebecca Wichman, Sophia Haeuser, and Regan Engle rounded out the scoring with 1 goal each. Simonson led the Ravens with 4 assists while Allen added 2. Frankfurth joined Moore with one assist.

Gianna Stalletti and Molly Owen split the game in goal with Stalletti playing the first half and getting credit for the win. She finished with 5 saves while Owen added 2.

Moore finished the game with 10 draw controls as Benedictine won 21 of 30. Gelbach finished with 4. 

The Ravens remain on the road on April 6, traveling to Canton, Mo., to take on Culver-Stockton College in Heart play, .They wrap up the regular season on April 15 with a Heart game at Noon against William Penn University.
