(8) Women's Lacrosse scores 19 en route to win over WPU; clinches Heart Championship

Women's Lacrosse jumped out to a 7-0 lead over William Penn University on Saturday afternoon as they celebrated Senior Day on Legacy Field.

The No. 8-ranked Ravens clinched the first-ever Heart Women's Lacrosse Championship with a 19-4 win over the (RV) Statesmen. The conference title marks the program's eighth overall conference championship after winning seven KCAC titles from 2016-2022.

Kaylen Moore scored the first goal of the game for the Ravens which was followed by a pair of goals from Courtney Frankfurth inside the midway point of the first quarter. The Ravens scored 12 unanswered goals before William Penn found the back of the net to kick in the mercy rule with a running clock.

By halftime, the Ravens lead 12-1. After shutting out the Statesmen in the third quarter, the Ravens gave up 3 goals in the fourth to finish with a 15-goal advantage.

Moore paced the Ravens with 5 goals. Margaux Gelbach, Kiera Russell, and Chanterra Allen joined Frankfurth with 3 goals each. Grace Simonson led the Ravens with 7 assists while she also added a goal. Claudia Garcia rounded out the Ravens scoring efforts with a goal. Frankfurth finished with 3 assists while Allen, Moore, and Gelbach finished with 1 assist each.

Gianna Stalletti earned the win in goal for the Ravens. She finished with 5 saves playing in the first half before Molly Own took over in the second half, adding 2 saves. Moore led the Ravens with 10 draw controls, 5 ground balls and 2 caused turnovers.

With the conference championship, the Ravens will host the Heart Tournament Semifinals on Wednesday against the No. 4 seed in the final Heart standings. More information will be posted to ravenathletics.com as soon as the final details are decided and the opponent is verified.
