Women's Lacrosse takes on SCAD-Savannah in NAIA National Championship Semifinals

SOUTHFIELD, Mich. – Benedictine Women's Lacrosse takes on SCAD-Savannah today at 6 p.m. in the Semifinals of the 2022 NAIA Lacrosse National Championship.

The meeting between the No. 6 seeded Ravens and No. 7 seeded Bees is a rematch of the 2019 NAIA National Invitational Championship. The meeting between the two programs is the fourth meeting between Benedictine and SCAD in the NAIA postseason and the fifth overall meeting. SCAD has won all four of the previous meetings. 

Benedictine advanced to the semifinals after knocking off No. 3 seed Cumberlands (Ky.) on Wednesday night while SCAD upset defending NAIA National Champion and No. 2 seed Kaiser (Fla.) 13-11.

The Bees and the Ravens finished the regular season tied at No. 5. SCAD enters the game with an overall record of 12-3 and has won five of their last six with their lone loss to Reinhardt, who is also playing in the Semifinals.

SCAD ranks 8th in the NAIA in goals with 279 and 4th in the NAIA in goals-per-game at 18.6. Julia Luff led the Bees with four goals in their win over Kaiser. She leads the team with 42 goals and 17 assists as the Bees enter the game with four players scoring 20 goals or more. 

Defensively, Tracy Richards recorded 5 saves on 16 shots in the win over Kaiser. Richards has an 8.8 goals-against average in 15 starts with a 51.5 percent save percentage and 101 saves. 

With her 5-goal effort in the upset over Cumberlands, Natalie Wechter improved her team-leading goal total to 87. Aiden McEnerney and Erica Odell enter the semifinals tied for second on the team in goals with 58 each. Clare Ryan tallied one assist in the win to move her team-high total to 54.

Defensively, Gianna Stalletti finished the Cumberlands game with 9 saves to move her season total to 80 while moving her goals-against average to 6.18.

Thursday's Semifinal will be streamed for a fee on the NAIANetwork at www.naianetwork.com while live stats are available for free through www.ravenathletics.com. The winner between the Ravens and Bees will take on the winner of the Reinhardt-Lawrence Tech Semifinal in the National Championship Game at 4 p.m. Saturday.
