Women's Lacrosse booked a ticket to the KCAC Tournament Championship game with a convincing win Thursday morning. The trip to the KCAC title game marks the sixth straight trip in seven years for the program with the only time they haven't represented Benedictine in the title game coming in 2020 when the season was cut short due to the cancelation of the spring season.
Playing at home, the Ravens topped the Ottawa University Braves 23-7 in the first semifinal game. All KCAC Tournament games are played at Legacy Field on the campus of Benedictine College.
The Ravens, as they tend to do, started fast. Erica Odell scored the first goal of the game 31 seconds into action. The Ravens scored 3 goals prior to Ottawa's first goal and held a 10-4 advantage after one quarter of play.
By halftime, the Ravens held a 13-5 lead. They out-shot the Braves 26-12 in the first half, but Ottawa actually had more draw controls than the Ravens, 11-9, in the opening 30 minutes.
The Ravens dominated the third quarter, pushing their lead to 20-6 after 45 minutes of play.
A 3-1 fourth quarter closed things out for the 16-goal win for the Ravens. The No. 1 Seed Ravens wound up winning the draw control battle, 17-15.
Natalie Wechter and Odell each scored 5 goals to lead the Ravens, with Wechter also notching 3 assists. Aidan McEnerney scored 4 goals and had 6 assists, and Clare Ryan also scored 4 goals with 3 assists. Gianna Stalletti had 11 saves in goal for the Ravens.
With the win, the (6) Ravens will play at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 23 at Legacy Field in the KCAC Championship against (9) St. Ambrose University, who knocked off (8) Missouri Baptist University in the second Semifinal on Thursday.
