Michael Rose-Ivey

Michael Rose-Ivey joined the football coaching staff in 2026, bringing an elite blend of Division I playing experience, a proven track record as a head coach, and a reputation for developing championship-level defensive talent.

Rose-Ivey, a Rockhurst (Mo.) High School standout, was a first-team Class 6 all-state selection and Under Armour All-American after leading his team to a 10–2 record and a state quarterfinal appearance his senior season. 

At the University of Nebraska, Rose-Ivey was a key contributor at linebacker, finishing his career with 163 tackles, including 70 as a senior, and setting a freshman record with 66 tackles in 2013. He earned Academic All-Big Ten honors and was recognized for leadership and community service throughout his career.

He has coached at several Kansas City-area schools, including Liberty, William Chrisman, North Kansas City, Lincoln College Prep, and Basehor-Linwood. He served as head coach at William Chrisman from 2021–2025 before joining Liberty’s coaching staff as a defensive line coach in 2025. In addition, he has trained multiple high-level defensive linemen, including Super Bowl champions Tershawn Wharton and Demone Harris.

Rose-Ivey earned his bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Nebraska and completed his senior season as a graduate student.
He and his wife, Tania, live in Kansas City with their son, Tyrin.
