Josh Pound

Josh Pound joined the Benedictine College Athletic Department staff in the summer of 2003 as the first full-time Sports Information Director. He serves as the primary media contact for information on the 20-sport Ravens and Lady Ravens athletics teams.

In May 2017, Pound was promoted to Assistant Athletic Director in addition to his role as SID. After serving on the NAIA Sports Information Directors Association (NAIA-SIDA) Branding Committee. As a committee member 2020-21 academic year, Pound now serves on the NAIA-SIDA Stats Committee. 

Before joining the staff, Pound was the sports editor for the Atchison Daily Globe - now Atchison Globe - for three years. While at the Globe, Pound earned several awards for sports feature writing, sports writing, photography and layout, and design.

A native of Lyons, Kan., Pound spent four years at Pittsburg State University and Emporia State University before leaving school for an opportunity to work as a full-time sports editor at the Globe. While in school, he served as a sportswriter for the Pitt State student newspaper, the Emporia State student newspaper, and the Emporia Gazette. He also worked closely with each school's sports information departments.

He has a BS in Journalism from Benedictine College and is an active member of the College Sports Information Directors of America and the NAIA-SIDA. He completed his Master's in Athletic Administration with an emphasis in Intercollegiate Athletics in May of 2018. In addition to his duties with the athletic department at Benedictine, he serves as an adjunct instructor in the school's Mass Communications Department. He has taught Sports Broadcasting, Strategic Sport Communication, and Layout & Design. 

As part of his duties related to his Assistant AD role, Pound has helped engage Raven student-athletes in leadership training through Growing Leaders – an organization that is attempting to help form the next generation of leaders across college campuses and professional organizations across the country. He is also one of two members of the Athletics Adminstration Team that works with the Student-Athlete Leadership Team (SALT).

Pound served as the site SID for the Heart of America Athletic Conference Baseball Championship Series from 2009-2015 Championship and chaired the Heart SIDs for six years ending in 2014. He has served on both the Branding and Statistical, Records & History committees with the NAIA-SIDA and was named to a one-year term on the NAIA-SIDA for the 2025-26 academic year where he was oversee the Branding Committee.

Josh, and his wife Amy – who teaches early childhood special education for the Keystone Learning Center – have three children Brady, Cooper, and Caitlyn. His family is often close by cheering on the Ravens and Lady Ravens.
