Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

(22) Women's Soccer closes out non-con with win

Women's Soccer closed out the non-conference portion of its schedule with a win Wednesday afternoon.

The No. 22 Ravens defeated the Friends University Falcons, 2-1, at home on Legacy Field. A goal just minutes before halftime proved to be the difference-maker for the Ravens.

The Falcons took an early 1-0 lead just 4 minutes into the game. The Ravens gave the ball away in their attacking half which led to a long pass forward and a nifty goal into the corner of the net as Friends took the lead.

Patsy O'Brien leveled the score at 1-1 with 23:37 left to play in the opening half. O'Brien intercepted a Falcons pass at midfield and dribbled into the box before beating the keeper for the goal.

The Ravens grabbed a 2-1 lead with just over 5 minutes to play in the opening half. Brynn Carroll one-touched a ball to Anna Bolger who was able to beat the Falcons keeper for the goal.

Possession was one-sided in favor of the Ravens and that continued in the second half. The Ravens out-shot Friends 17-2 and, despite not adding a third goal in the final 45 minutes of action, closed out the 2-1 win.

Campbell Gregory notched one save in goal for the Ravens to earn the win.

The Ravens (4-0) will open Heart of America Conference action on the road when they take on William Penn University on Saturday, Sept. 12.
