Benedictine Men's Lacrosse returned home with a shutout over Ottawa University on Saturday as they continued Heart play against the Braves.
The Ravens earned a 29-0 win over Ottawa as two Ravens hit career milestones during the shutout. Max Thomason was the first, hitting 300 career face-off wins. Mason Eberle also reached 100 career goals in the win, finishing the game with 5 goals.
Joh Paul Torgersen found the back of the net first off an assist from Brayden Hope, as the Ravens scored with 13:40 remaining in the first quarter. By the end of the quarter, the Ravens pushed their lead to 11-0 and added 10 more in the second quarter to take a 21-0 lead into halftime.
Benedictine finished with a 74-3 advantage in shots with 39 shots on goal.Â
Offensively, 15 Ravens combined to score in the win. Eberle was joined by Joey Calabria with 5 goals. Jonah Salem scored 3 goals, followed by Jacob Meyer, Aiden Abalos, Torgersen and Ian Madden with 2 goals each. Malcom Castronova, Keegan Lindsay, Hope, Luke Rheinheimer, Trent Harder, Harry Milligan, Jacob Schlick and Camden Chambers scored 1 goal each.
Calabria finished with 7 assists, one shy of the program record for single-game assists. Salem and Hope added 3 assists each, followed by Mateo Herbertz and Eberle with 2 each. Thomason, Meyer, Abalos, Torgersen, Rheinheimer, Schlick and Madden finished with 1 assist each.
Thomason won 13 of 16 face-offs as the Ravens went 24 of 33 as Chambers finished at 9 of 12.Â
Defensively, the Ravens finished with 27 caused turnovers, led by Reed Martin with 5 and Jack Northrup with 4
JC Besuzzi earned the win in goal, playing the first half with 1 save. Victor Granchelli played the third quarter while Donovan Keeling played the fourth.
Benedictine continues Heart play on March 22 with a trip to Marshall, Mo., to take on Missouri Valley College at 3 p.m. as they open a 3-game road swing with games at Columbia and William Woods on March 28 and April 1.
