Ravens Softball opened up the conference portion of their schedule with a sweep Friday afternoon.
The (RV) Ravens defeated the Missouri Valley College Vikings 8-0 in Game 1, then topped it off with a 10-2 win in Game 2.
Game 1
The Ravens bats got things going in the third inning, hitting back-to-back-to-back home runs, all to center field, to take a 4-0 lead.
Kaleigh Small started it off with a 2-run homer that also scored
Alena Velilla.
Rhiannon Martin and
Amanda Waymire followed that up with solo home runs.
In the fourth inning, Velilla and Small combined again. Velilla tripled, then Small chased her home with a triple of her own to push the Ravens lead to 5 runs.

The Ravens earned the run-rule win in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Abby Reynolds pinch ran after
Reagan Enright walked.
Megan Forsman singled, then Reynolds and Forsman scored on a double by
Lauren Gaitley. After a groundout, Gaitley scored on a wild pitch to give the Ravens the 8-0 win.
Game 2
The Vikings plated a run in the top of the first inning, but the Ravens had an answer in the bottom half.
Velilla doubled to leadoff, then scored on a double by Martin. After a Waymire single and Enright ground out, Martin and Waymire scored on Forsman's single into right field to give the Ravens a 3-1 lead.
Velilla added to the lead in the second, launching a solo homer over the left field fence.
After the Vikings scored a run in the top of the fourth,
Ryan Cooper helped manufacture an answer for the Ravens in the bottom half. Cooper bunted for a single, stole second base, advanced to third on a ground out, then scored on a wild pitch to give the Ravens a 6-2 lead.
Velilla again padded the lead in the fifth inning with a 3-run home run, her second homer of the game, scoring Forsman and
Lauren Gaitley.
The run-rule went into effect in the sixth inning when Gaitley singled home
Mattilyn Peters, who was pinch running after Waymire walked.
Lily SinghDhillon (2-3) earned the win for the Ravens. She pitched 4 innings, struck out 4, and gave up 5 hits and 2 runs.
