Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Women's Basketball extends winning streak with 20-point win over Peru State

PERU, Neb. – Benedictine Women's Basketball took the regular-season series over Peru State on Monday night with a 79-59 win over the Bobcats.

Benedictine scored 24 points off turnovers en route to the 20-point win while scoring 30 or points for the paint fifth time over their current 7-game winning streak.

Four Ravens scored in double figures as Benedictine used a balanced offensive attack against Peru State. Defensively, they limited the Bobcats' top player in Kylie Diaz. Diaz, who was limited to 19 minutes due to foul trouble, finished with just 6 points – over 16 points below her season average.

Peru State scored the first points of the game, but Benedictine answered with a 8-0 to erase their early deficit. The Ravens held a 22-17 lead after the end of the first quarter, leading by as much as 8.

Two straight baskets from Nicole Storck in the paint and a 3-pointer from Makayla Baughman pushed the Ravens lead into double figures inside the first 30 seconds of the second quarter and the Ravens never looked back. They stretched their lead to as much as 14 points three times, each coming on free throws from Oen Deters, Kelli Storck and Nicole Storck.

After leading 48-36 at the half, the Ravens stretched their lead to 19 points scoring 8 straight to open up the second half before taking a 63-52 lead into the final 10 minutes of the game.

While the Bobcats managed to outscore the Ravens in the third quarter, that advantage was only by a point, 16-15, any momentum they might have gained in the third quarter, disappeared in the fourth as the Ravens held them to just 7 points en route to the 20-point win.

Kelli Storck and Deters led the Ravens with 15 points, followed by Nicole Storck while added 14 points and 14 rebounds. Riley Bruggeman added 13 to round out the Ravens top scorers.

Benedictine returns home on Saturday, hosting Senior Day at 2 p.m. against Central Methodist University.
