Women's Basketball picked up a convincing home win Wednesday evening.
The Ravens defeated the Baker University Wildcats, 84-39.
Despite a slow start, the Ravens took control of the game in the opening quarter, leading 21-8 after 10 minutes of action. The Ravens missed their first 9 shots of the contest, but forced 6 Baker turnovers in the first quarter and limited the Wildcats to 3-of-15 shooting.
After their slow start on the offensive end, the Ravens made 9-13 shots to close out the first quarter with a 13-point lead.
Kyla Fitzgerald scored 8 points in the opening frame to lead the Ravens.
The Ravens extended their lead to 24 points by halftime with the same formula as the first quarter. The Ravens defense forced 9 more turnovers in the second quarter, turning the 15 Wildcats turnovers into 16 points.
Fitzgerald had 13 points at the break and
Oen Deters had a team-high 15 points in the first half. Deters had 5 steals,
Riley Bruggeman swiped 3 steals and
Hattie Gros added 2 more as the Ravens held a 45-21 lead at halftime.
The Ravens continued to dominate in the second half, outscoring Baker 21-4 to erase any notions of a comeback attempt.
The fourth quarter featured plenty of minutes for the Ravens reserve as they closed out the 45-point win.
Fitzgerald's 16 points were a team high, Deters scored 15,
Makayla Baughman had 12, and
Hattie Gros scored 10 points. Bruggeman dished out 10 assists as the Ravens shared the ball well as a team, assisting on 29 of 33 made baskets. Deters finished the game with 7 steals.
With the win, the Ravens (13-5, 9-1 Heart) extend their win streak to four games. They'll try to push that to five at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17 at home against the (RV) Grand View Vikings in the Heart Game of the Week.
