ST. LOUIS – Benedictine Women's Soccer opened up Heart play on Saturday afternoon matching their season high in scoring against Heart newcomer Missouri Baptist Univesity.
The Ravens earned a 5-0 win over the Spartans, reaching 5 goals for second time in their last four matches.
The Ravens scored 3 first-half goals, starting in the 14th minute. Christine Znidarsic scored off an assist from Isabel Agudelo to stake Benedictine to a 1-0 lead. Znidarsic pushed the Ravens advantage to 2-0 nearly 4 minutes later, scoring off an assist from Rowan Yows during the 18th minute.
Benedictine's third goal of the match, came from a unique duo. Jenna Wilken scored during the 37th minute off an assist from her younger sister Annie to push the Ravens to a 3-goal lead at the half.
Ella Braunger scored the Ravens fourth goal during the 57th minute, with the assist credited to Znidarsic while Payton Vogelbacher rounded out the scoring effort, off an assit from Teya Bigknife during the 79th minute.
Benedictine finished with 13 shots on goal and outshot MBU 25-4. Madison Smith recorded the shutout in goal for the Ravens, recording 2 saves over 90 minutes.
The Ravens remain on the road for their second Heart match of the season, taking on No. 9 Missouri Valley College in Marshall, Mo., on Tuesday.
