FAYETTE, Mo. – For the first time in conference history, a tie was handed out for the annual Women's Outdoor Track & Field Team Championship as both the Benedictine Women and Central Methodist University scored 179 points over the two-day meet hosted by CMU.
The Raven Women earned 31 All-Conference honors en route to their share of the championship. They also earned 5 event championships while meeting 3 NAIA B Qualifying Standards. Mary Cate Golden won the championship in the 1,500 meters. Julie McLauglin won the championship in the 5,000 meters. Emilie Nelson won the championship in the 10,000 meters. Mary Lorang won the championship in the Javelin, and the 4x800 meter relay team of Josie Jansen, Anna Campbell, Cecelia Campos, and Golden won the championship.
Head Coach Jacob Connealy was also named the Heart Women's Outdoor Track & Field Coach of the Year. That announcement will officially be made later today on the Heart website at www.heartofamericaconference.com.
The 4x800 relay was one of the three events to hit the B Standard. Leah Kuhn finished second in the 5,000-meter Race Walk, and Lorang finished second in the Discus.
