DAVENPORT, Iowa – On Saturday, it was another record-breaking game: No. 2-ranked Benedictine Women's Lacrosse clinched the program's eighth outright conference title.
The Ravens earned a 33-3 win over St. Ambrose University to clinch the championship and set a new single-game scoring record.
Additionally, the Ravens won 34 draw controls against the Fighting Bees to break the single-game team record, which had stood at 29 since last season.
Chanterra Allen, Lorelei Siegel, and Kaylen Moore gave the Ravens a 4-0 lead before St. Ambrose scored two straight to close down their deficit with 8:25 remaining in the first quarter.
Benedictine answered St. Ambrose's two-goal effort with a 5-0 run to end the first quarter. They took that momentum into the second quarter, where they won 26 straight draw controls that led to 28 unanswered goals as Benedictine finished with a record-breaking scoring effort.
Moore and Allen anchored the Ravens offensive attack once again. Moore finished with a record 10 goals while adding 5 assists. She finished the game with 15 points, which ties the program record for single-game points. Allen scored 8 goals with 1 assist as ehe reached 8 goals for the fourth time this season and sixth time in two years.
Siegel finished with 7 goals and 2 assists, followed by Lile Chekas with 4 goals and 2 assists. Kiera Russell and Mackenna Hill added 2 goals each while Russell finished with 4 assists. Regan Engle added 2 assists while Christen Michaelides added 1.
Moore finished with 21 draw controls while Russell finished either 4. Chekas and Hill added 3 each, while Emma Rushing finished with 2. Ainsley Willingham added the final draw control to the record-breaking effort.
Hill led the defense with 2 caused turnovers as the Ravens finished with 10 total. Molly Owen finished with 1 save while Monica Klecan added 1 of her own as Owen played the first 30 minutes before giving way to Klecan and Margaret Ritson for the third and fourth quarter.
Benedictine has earned the No. 1 seed in the Heart Tournament and earns a bye in the Quarterfinals. They will host the Semifinals on Thursday, April 17 for a chance to host the Heart Tournament Championship on Saturday, April 19.
