Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Men's Lacrosse drops conference road game to St. Ambrose

DAVENPORT, Iowa – St. Ambrose University combined to score 6 goals in the second and third quarters on Saturday afternoon to distance themselves from Men's Lacrosse en route to a 10-7 win.

After St. Ambrose scored the opening goal of the game, Joey Calabria, Mac Postel Jr., and Mason Eberle scored three straight for Benedictine to take a 3-1 lead midway through the first quarter.

The Fighting Bees followed the Ravens' 3-goal run with a 3-goal run of their own, which started and stretched from the first to the second quarter and allowed SAU to regain the lead.

Eberle tied the game at 4-4 with 8:05 left in the second quarter, but Benedictine never was able to break back through and take the lead as SAU held a 5-4 lead at the break.

A 3-1 scoring advantage for the Fighting Bees in the third quarter played a factor in the final, as each team matched the other with two goals in the fourth quarter.

Eberle led the Ravens with 3 goals, followed by Calabria with 2. Mateo Herbertz joined Postel Jr. with 1 goal each. Postel Jr. led the Ravens with 4 assists while Jonah Salem and Harry Milligan added 1 assist each.

Benedictine outshot St. Ambrose 40-30 and won 13 of 20 face-offs; they just weren't able to find the back of the net when needed.

Aiden Nicholson led the Ravens with 4 caused turnovers while Jack Northrup finished with 3. As a team, the Ravens finished with 19 caused turnovers.

CJ Besuzzi suffered the loss in goal, playing the first 45 minutes, giving up 8 goals with 5 assists. John Paul Evans played the fourth quarter, finishing with 2 saves while allowing 2 goals.

Benedictine hosts Clarke University at 6 p.m. Thursday, before wrapping up their conference regular-season schedule at 1 p.m. Saturday with No. 10 William Penn University.
