DES MOINES, Iowa – The second road overtime game of the semester for (RV) Benedictine Women's Basketball ended a 3-game road swing positively on Wednesday night.

In a battle for second place in the Heart standings, the Ravens wrapped up the 3-game road trip through Iowa with an 89-87 win over (RV) Grand View University.

It took Benedictine nearly 5 minutes to score its first basket of the game – a 3-pointer from Kennedy Nicholson. Nicholson's basket cut the Ravens deficit down to four points but Grand View quickly responded. The Ravens closed out the final 4 minutes of the first quarter outscoring the Vikings 17-2 to take a 20-14 lead.

Benedictine pushed their advantage to as much as 10 points on another 3-pointer from Nicholson before Grand View got hot from beyond the arc. Three straight 3-pointers from the Vikings erased the Ravens double-digit lead. A pair of free throws by Grand View tied the game at 35 points before a 3-pointer and jumper from Lauryn Dubbert closed out the half to give Benedictine a 40-37 lead at the half.

While Benedictine was able to maintain a lead throughout most of the first half, the third quarter played through six ties and five lead changes. Grand View scored the first 7 points of the quarter, followed by 4 points from Benedictine.

Benedictine's largest lead of the quarter was 3 points after a pair of free throws from Riley Waide while Grand View's largest lead was 5 points with just over 3 minutes left in the quarter. Riley Bruggeman hit four free throws over the final 90 seconds of the quarter that were sandwiched around another 3-pointer from Grand View to send the game into the fourth quarter tied at 59 points.

Like the third quarter, the fourth quarter played through five more ties and five lead changes. Another Nicholson 3-pointer pushed Benedictine head by 5 points inside the first 4 minutes of the quarter only to have Grand View lead by 3 points three times over the final 4:25 of the game. Grand View took their final 3-point lead of the quarter with 14 seconds remaining in the quarter only to have Dubbert hit a 3-pointer with 3 seconds left to tie the game at 77 and send it into overtime.

Neither team led by more than 3 points in the overtime period. Benedictine held an 82-79 lead inside the first 90 seconds of overtime on a 3-pointer from Josie Weishaar before Grand View used a 3-pointer of their own to pull ahead 87-84 with 90 seconds remaining.
