Game Recap: Women's Basketball |

Women's Basketball opens season with big win

Women's Basketball opened its season with a big win Tuesday night.
The Ravens defeated the Kansas Christian College Falcons, 112-31, at home. It's the most points the Ravens have scored since 2022 against Manhattan Christian.
The Ravens wasted little time taking control of the game, jumping out to a 19-5 lead by the first media timeout. By the time the first quarter was over, the Ravens held a 32-8 lead.
That lead grew to 58-15 by halftime as 11 Ravens saw action and scored in the first half. Riley Bruggeman led the way with 17 points in the opening 20 minutes, with Oen Deters adding 9 points and Addie Kane scoring 8.
The Ravens depth continued to be an issue for the Falcons in the second half as the home team outscored KCC 36-2 in the third quarter. The Ravens continued to go deep on their bench in the fourth quarter as they closed out the 81-point win.
Bruggeman finished with 23 points to lead all scorers on Tuesday. Three other Ravens finished in double-digits: Deters and Kane both had 14, and Grace Dixon scored 13 points. Just shy of the double-digit mark were Makayla Baughman, Lilly Martin, Hattie Gros, and Jaylee Christian, who all scored 8 points. All 12 Ravens that saw the court were able to score.
Kane grabbed 9 rebounds to lead the team, and Deters dished out 9 assists and had 5 steals. Bruggeman added 6 boards and 4 steals. Macie Eidson had 6 points and 4 blocks.
The Ravens (1-0) will hit the road for their next two games as they play Bethany College on Friday, Oct. 31 and Tabor College Saturday, Nov. 1, with both games in Hillsboro, Kansas.
