Women's Basketball started 2025 with a convincing home win Wednesday evening.
The (RV) Ravens returned to conference action with a 91-46 victory against the out-matched William Penn University Statesmen.
The Ravens were in control from the very beginning, racing out to a 13-0 lead before Penn was able to find a basket. That early lead gave way to a 24-7 lead after one quarter of play and a 48-14 advantage at halftime.
The Ravens took were better in every category in the opening half, shooting 47% from the field and 38.9% from 3-point range. WPU shot just 21.7% from the field in the opening 20 minutes, including 1-of-13 from long range. The Ravens grabbed 24 rebounds to the Statesmen's 14, and forced 17 WPU turnovers.
The teams were fairly even in the third quarter as the Ravens took a 70-35 lead into the final period. The Ravens were able to play several reserves in the lopsided win, and they played well, outscoring the Statesmen 21-11 in the fourth quarter to secure a 45-point win.
The Ravens had five players reach double-figure scoring with Lauryn Dubbert's 18 points leading the way. Kennedy Nicholson and Riley Bruggeman each added 12 points, and Josie Weishaar and Carmen Morales both scored 10 points.
The Ravens finished with a 47-34 advantage in rebounds; Dubbert, Morales and Nicole Storck each grabbed 6 boards, while Weishaar and Bruggeman had 4 rebounds, each. Riley Wade and Dubbert both dished out 4 assists, Dubbert added 5 steals and Storck had 4 swipes in the contest.
The Ravens (11-2, 8-1 Heart) will hit the road for their next contest, a 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 4 road game at (RV) Grand View University.
