(2) Reinhardt earns 16-9 win over (9) Women's Lacrosse

WALESKA, Ga. – Benedictine Women's Lacrosse wrapped up their southern road trip on Friday night, taking on No. 2 Reinhardt (Ga.).

The Eagles and the No. 9-ranked Ravens traded goals until late in the first quarter when Reinhardt pulled ahead, eventually earning the 16-9 win.

Kiera Russell scored the first goal of the game for Benedictine off an assist from Christen Michaelides. The Eagles answered with goals before Elizabeth Pluta scored to tie the game at 2-2 off an assist from Chanterra Allen. 

Allen pulled the Ravens even for the second time at 3-3 before the Eagles rattled off 7 unanswered goals through the midpoint of the second quarter to pull ahead 10-3. Pluta scored the final goal of the second quarter off an assist from Alexa Hildenbrand to make it 10-4 Eagles at the break.

A four-goal second quarter allowed the Eagles to keep ahead of the Ravens pace as both teams finished with 2 goals in the fourth quarter.

Pluta led the Ravens with 4 goals, followed by Allen with 3. Haylee Strough joined Russell with 1 goal each. Allen led the Ravens with 2 assists while Margaux Gelbach joined Michaelides and Hildenbrand with 1 assist each.

Molly Owen earned the start in goal for the second game in a row. She played nearly 20 minutes finishing with 4 saves before Gianna Stalletti finished the game. Stalletti recorded 8 saves.

Gelbach and Russell led the Ravens with 2 caused turnovers each as they finished with 8 total as a team. Gelbach, Strough, and Russell led the Ravens with 3 draw controls each while Russell added 8 ground balls.

Benedictine remains on the road for their next game on March 16, traveling to Cedar Rapids, Iowa, for their Heart opener against first-year program Mount Mercy University.
