Women's Lacrosse wrapped up their season-opening homestand with a 19-1 win over the Midland University Warriors on Friday afternoon.
The (9) Ravens scored the first seven goals of the game, grabbing control from the start. Kiera Russell opened the scoring in the first minute to get things going. Chanterra Allen then scored three in a row as the home side asserted their will. The Ravens held a 7-1 lead after the first quarter of play.
Elizabeth Pluta's goal with 6:34 to play before halftime gave the Ravens a 10-goal lead and started the running clock for the remainder of the game. By halftime, the Ravens were up 13-1.
The second half had just six Ravens goals in the second half as the team focused more on passing and running through plays. Allen finished as the leading scorer with 7 goals, followed close behind by Pluta's 6 goals. Russel scored twice, as did Kaylen Moore. Alexa Hildenbrand dished out 5 assists, Margaux Gelbach had 3 assists, and Christen Michaelides had a pair of assists.
In goal, Gianna Stalletti made 2 saves in the first half and Molly Owen came on in the second half and also made 2 saves.
The Ravens (3-0) now head out on their annual Spring Break road trip to take on No. 5 Cumberlands (Ky.), No. 6 Life (Ga.) and No. 2 Reinhardt (Ga.) in a trio of top-10 matchups. The Ravens next home game is at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 23 against Culver-Stockton College.
