(RV) Men's Lacrosse used 61 shots to earn an 11-point win to open up Heart play on Saturday on Legacy Field.
Benedictine outshot Missouri Valley College 61-19 en route to an 18-7 win over the Vikings as they earned their third straight win.
The Ravens opened the game with four unanswered goals. Jordan Rodriguez sandwiched two goals around goals from Michael Hogan and Charlee Louree to give Benedictine a 4-0 lead headed to the second quarter.
Paul Gordan made it 5-0 Benedictine before Missouri Valley rattled off three straight. After a timeout from the Ravens, Benedictine took back control to close out the half with goals from James Carson and Louree to make it 7-3 at the half.
Valley struck first in the third quarter, but back-to-back goals from Carson ignited the Ravens offense in the quarter as they finished with 5 in the third and added 6 in the fourth to take command of the game and earn the double-digit win.
Rodriguez led the Ravens with 4 goals. Hogan and Carson added three goals while Joey Calabria joined Louree and Gordon with 2 goals each. Mac Postel Jr. and Jac Couri scored a goal each to round out the Ravens scoring efforts. Carson finished with 3 assists while Calabria added 2. Carson Huerter and Hogan finished with 1 assist each.
Defensively, the Ravens finished with 14 caused turnovers as the Vikings finished the game with 27. Huerter led the way with 4 caused turnovers while Drew Doran added 3. Jacob Clipperton and Jerry Dalrymple split the game in goal. Clipperton finished with 3 saves in the first half while Dalrymple added 4 in the second half.
Benedictine won 23 of 29 faceoffs with Joseph Bianchi winning 22 of 27 with a team-high 14 groundballs.
The Ravens return to the road on Tuesday traveling to Fremont, Neb., to take on Midland University before hosting Mount Vernon Nazarene University in Heart play on Friday at 4 p.m. on Legacy Field.
