Men's Soccer picked up a win at home against a ranked opponent Wednesday evening.
The Ravens knocked off the No. 8 MidAmerica Nazarene University Pioneers 2-0 with a pair of second-half goals.
After a scoreless first half, the Ravens capitalized on a Pioneers mistake 14 minutes into the second half. The Pioneers keeper attempted a pass forward, but Nima Samadian stepped in front of it and then unleashed a shot before the keeper could get back into position to put the Ravens up 1-0 with 31 minutes to play.
The Pioneers, trailing by a goal, were forced to press forward in search of an equalizer. The Ravens were up for the task, repeatedly denying the MNU attack. Noah Reuscher made 4 saves for the Ravens in the second half, earning the clean sheet.
Diego Acuna added the insurance goal in the 86th minute. Acuna found himself at the top of the box and dribbled to his left to create space. He then launched a left-footed kick into the upper right corner to beat the MNU keeper and give the Ravens a 2-0 lead.
The game was evenly matched through the opening 45 minutes, with neither side scoring a goal in the first half. Both teams recorded 4 shots in the first half, with the only shot on goal saved by Reuscher for the Ravens.
The Ravens improve to 8-3-2 on the season and 4-2-1 in Heart of America play. Next up for the Ravens will be a road contest at Central Methodist University on Saturday, Oct. 14.
