BALDWIN CITY – Volleyball used a 12-point run on Tuesday night to erase a first-set deficit against rival Baker University and never looked back earning a sweep over the Wildcats.
Trailing 18-13 in the first set, the Ravens went on a run that not only erased their deficit but saw them earn a 25-18 win. They rounded out the sweep with wins of 25-18 and 25-16. The win over the Wildcats marks the second straight for the Ravens as they improved to 9-1 in their last 10 matches with their long-time rivals.
Joslyn Lewis led the Ravens attack with 10 kills as the Ravens finished with an attacking percentage of .217 with a total of 39 kills. Sabrina Oncins and Regan Bruffeman added 7 kills while Mary Pat Taylor and Maura Lickteig finished with 6 each.
Marissa Mantz and Haley Cahill finished with 17 assists each as the Ravens finished with 37 total assists.
Defensively, Kristijana Istuk and Oncins led the way with 11 digs while Mantz and Taylor added 10 digs. Maggie Schoening joined Lewis and Lickteig with 3 block assists each to round out the defensive efforts for the Ravens.
Benedictine returns home on Friday to take on the Evangel University Valor. A JV match is scheduled for 5 p.m., followed by the Varsity match at 7 p.m. inside the Ralph Nolan Gymnasium.
