Volleyball hit the road for a pair of conference matches on Friday and Saturday, traveling to Missouri Valley College on Friday and then Central Methodist University on Saturday.
Friday night in Marshall, Mo., the Ravens earned the sweep over the Vikings before falling in Fayette, Mo., on Saturday to the No. 16-ranked Eagles 3-0.
In the Friday night sweep over the Vikings, the Ravens connected on a .347 attack percentage with a total of 43 kills. Sabrina Oncins led the Ravens with 12 kills, followed by Mary Pat Taylor with 10. Maria Wortmann helped anchor the offensive attack, finishing with 24 assists while Marissa Mantz added 14.
Defensively, Kristijana Istuk led the backline with 14 digs while Taylor added 10. Oncins and Maggie Schoening finished with 3 block assists each to lead the defense at the net.
In the loss to the Eagles, the Ravens were limited on their attack, finishing at .084 as a team. Taylor led the attack with 15 kills and was the only player in double figures. Mantz led the two setters with 15 assists while Wortmann added 14 as the Ravens finished with 31 assists in the loss.
Istuk and Taylor were joined in the backline defense by Wortmann. Istuk led the way with 16 digs, followed by Taylor with 12 and Wortmann finished with 11. Joslyn Lewis finished with 2 block assists to close out the Ravens defensive efforts,
Benedictine returns home for a three-match homestand, starting at 7 p.m. Tuesday as they host (RV) MNU. They continue at home on Friday against Peru State before closing the homestand on Saturday with Graceland.
