BALDWIN CITY – It took five sets to decide the final on Tuesday night between Raven Volleyball and rival Baker University on the road. After jumping out to a 2-0 lead, the Ravens gave back two sets before the Wildcats outlasted the Ravens in the fifth set to earn a 3-2 win.
The Ravens finished the match with a .179 attack percentage after starting off the match hitting .419 in the opening set. Regan Bruggeman finished the night with 23 kills and a .327 attack percentage while Joslyn Lewis added 15 kills off a .265 attack percentage. Marea Wortmann set up the attack throughout the match finishing with 47 assists as the Ravens tallied 59 as a team.
Defensively, Kristijan Istuk finished the night with 30 digs to anchor the back-row defense. Bruggeman finished with 11 as the Ravens recorded 68 total digs. At the net, Haylie Dickerson finished the match with three block assists while Bruggeman added two block assists and a solo block.
Benedictine remains on the road on Friday, traveling to Peru State College before finishing up the week in Lamoni, Iowa, on Saturday against Graceland University.
