Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

(RV) Women's Soccer falls on golden goal by (17) Columbia, 1-0

Women's Soccer lost a tough match at home Friday night.

The (RV) Ravens lost 1-0 to the (17) Columbia College Cougars in overtime. It's the first loss – and the first goal allowed – for the Ravens this spring.

Tied 0-0 in overtime, the Cougars scored the game-winner in the 95th minute. Delfina Zolesio Fernandez Blanco found herself alone with the ball just inside the 18-yard box after a deflection, then sent in a well-placed shot that beat Ravens keeper Olivia Berry.

The Ravens and Cougars played a scoreless first half, with each team putting up similar stats. Both squads had five shots, with three shots on goal. Ashley Rehagen made the start in goal for the Ravens and made three saves while Victoria Heus also made three saves for the Cougars.

The only difference on the stat sheet in the first half came in the foul column; the Cougars were whistled for 6 fouls and the Ravens had just 1 foul.

Both teams had chances in the second half, but the score remained 0-0 heading into overtime. Berry made a pair of point-blank saves with 31 minutes left in the second half to preserve the tie. Later in the second half, Meagan Papin's shot went just right of the Columbia goal.

Berry finished with 4 saves in goal for the Ravens, playing the second half and the overtime period. Rachel Beffa had three shots on goal, and Emma Strecker and Natalie Duque each had two shots on goal.

The Ravens (10-4-2) now move on to the Heart of America Conference Tournament as the No. 5 seed and will play at No. 4 MidAmerica Nazarene University in the quarterfinals on Saturday, April 3.
