KANSAS CITY, Mo. – After playing through a 1-1 week last week, the Raven men's soccer program wasn't quite sure where they'd be slotted on Tuesday afternoon when the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) released the eight regular season Top 25 Coaches Poll.
After falling to Missouri Valley on Oct. 15 in Marshall, Benedictine responded with an explosive 5-4 win over Baker University on Saturday in Atchison.
Tuesday, Benedictine found themselves checking in at No. 14 this week after reaching No. 11 just a week ago.
The Ravens are the third-highest ranked member of the Heart of America Athletic Conference (HAAC) in the latest Top 25 poll.
MNU, the Ravens regular-season finale opponent on Saturday, is the highest-ranked HAAC member at No. 8 while Missouri Valley College is ranked No. 11.
The HAAC's three ranked teams is second only to the Southern States Athletic Conference, which saw five of its member schools ranked in this weeks poll.
The Ravens are currently ranked second in two NAIA statistical categories.
They rank second in shutouts per game (.64) and total shutouts (9).
Joe Sbarro (Jr., Kansas City, Mo.) is currently ranked No. 13 in total game winning goals with four while keeper Taylor Vinnage (Soph., Overland Park) ranks No. 19 in goals against per game (0.9).
Before the Ravens get a crack at MNU on Saturday, they have to travel to Lamoni, Iowa, to take on Graceland University at 7 p.m. tonight.
